When I started this project, I wanted to stage photos of couples in exaggerated fights. When I started shooting, I noticed that people couldn’t hold straight faces while pretending to fight, and what the couples were yelling at each other ended up being the more interesting thing. Topics of past fights were brought up, this brought tension between people, and this brought me into a new direction with my work. Instead of fights, I would explore the tension between couples when one party wasn’t doing what the other party wanted. When two people get together, it is clear how they feel about each other in the way they hold themselves. The manner and the proximity in which they stood to each other and the way they position themselves told me more than their words.
